አቶ ጁዋር ሲራጅ መሃመድ በቅርቡ ከአቶ ደረጀ ደስታ ጋር ያደረገውን ቃለ ምልልስ (http://ethsat.com/video/esat-yehager-lij-activist-juwar-mohamed-10-may-2013/) በአጽንኦት ተከታትያለሁ። የሰውየው ግለ ታሪክና ያደረጋቸው ጉዞዎች መሳጭ ቢሆኑም አንዳንድ እርማት የሚያስፈልጋቸው የተሳሳቱና የተዛቡ ታሪኮችን እንደገና እንዲፈትሽ፤ ሆን ብሎ እያራገበው ከሆነም ቆም ብሎ እንዲያስብበት ለመጠቆም ወደድኩ። የተሳሳተ መረጃ መረጃ ራስንም ሌላውንም ክፉኛ ይጎዳል። ሊዘህ መነሻ የሆነኝ፤ ስለ ኦሮሞ ጭቆና መነሻውን ሲገገልጽ፤ አማራዎቹ የአውሮፓን መሳሪያ ቀድመው ስላገኙ የሚል፤ መሰረት የለሽ ውንጀላው ነው።
ጋዜጠኛ ደረጀ ስለ ኦነግ አመሰራረት ሲጠይቀው፤ ጁዋር እንዲሚከተለው መለሰ። “እንግዲህ በመቶ አመታት ወደዃላ ሂደን ስናይ አካባቢው በቡድን ግጭት የተሞላ ነበር-በተለይ ከ14ኛው መቶ ክፍለ ዘመን ወዲህ። ከዚያ በፊት አብዛኛው የሐይማኖት ነበር። በሐይማኖት ስር የተደራጁ መንግስታት ነበር ሲጋጩ የነበሩት። ከዚያ በዃላ ግን የብሔር ግጭቶች ነበሩ። ይህ የብሔር ግጭት፤ በአማራ፣ በኦሮሞና በትግሬ የተካሄደው ነው-ኢትዮጵያን የወለደው። በዚህ ግጭት ውስጥ ቀድሞ የአውሮፓን መሳሪያ ሊያገኝ የቻለው የአማራው ሀይል አሸንፎ፤ በበላይነት አሁን የምናውቃት ኢትዮጵያን ፈጠረ። “ እጅግ በጣም የገረመኝ መልስ ነው። በእርግጥ አቶ ጁዋር ብቻ አይደለም ፤ በቅርብ ጊዜ የምሰማው ከመሰሎቹ የኦሮሞ ወንድሞቼ የዕለት ከዕለት ውንጀላ ሆኗል። ውሸት ሲደጋገም እውነት ይመስላል፤ እንዲሉ የዚህ አይነቱን ነገር እንደ እውነት ሳይወስዱት አልቀረም።
ይሄ መልስህ፤ ብዙ ጥያቄዎችን አጭሮብኛል፡
• በውኑ ኢትዮጵያን የወለደ ከ14ኛው አመት በዃላ ያለው የብሔር ግጭት ነው?
• ከ14ኛው መቶ ክፍለ ዘመን በነበሩት የሐይማኖች ግጭቶች፤ የኦሮሞ ሕዝብ የት ይሆን የነበረው?
• በውኑ አማራው ነው የውጭዎቹን መሳራያውን ቀድሞ ያገኘው? ማረጋገጫ ልትሰጠኝ ትችላለህ? እኔ ያነበብሁትና የማውቀው ሌላ ነው።
ለምን የፈጠራ ውንጀላ ውስጥ በተለይ ማንበብና መጻፍ ከምንችል ሰዎች መካከል እንደምንዘፈቅ አይገባኝም። ሁለቱን ጥያቄዎች ለአቶ ጁዋር ትቼ፤ ለውንጀላ የተጠቀምህበትን ሶስተኛውን ጥያቄ እኔው ካነበብሁት እመልሳሃለሁ። ስህተት ከሆነ ማስረጃ ያቅርብና እንከራከርበት። ኢትዮጵያውያን እርስ በራሳቸው፤ በአካባቢያቸው በሰሩት መሳሪያ ይዋጉና አሸናፊው ይገዛ እንደነበር የታሪክ መዛግብት ያስረዳሉ። በዚህ እርሱ እና እኔም እንስማማለን። እንዲህ አይነቱ ልማድ በሌሎቹም አለም ሲደረግ የኖረ ሃቅ ነው። ነገር ግን የአለም ሁኔታ ተቀይሮ፤ አንዱ የሌላውን ሃብት ድምበር አቋርጦ ለመዝረፍ ሲባል፤ ጠመንጃ መሳሪያን ይዘው ብቅ አሉ። በመሰረቱ የጠመንጃ መሳሪያ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ የተፈጠረው በ14ኛው ክፍለ ዘመን በቻይናዎች ነው። ወዲያውኑም ወደ ሩቅ ምስራቆችና አውሮፓዎቹ ተዛመተ። አውሮፓውያንና ሩቅ ምስራቆች፤ በሐይማኖት ሰበብ በተለያዩ አካባቢዎች ግጭትን አስነሱ፤ የጠበንጃ መሳሪያውንም ይዘው ተነሱ። በኢትዮጵያም ይኸው ሆነ። በወቅቱ፤ ከክርስቲያኖች ጋር ለተጣላው ግራኝ አህመድ፤ ቱርኮቹ ልዩ ሰልጠና ሰጥተው የጦር መሳሪያ አስታጥቀው፤ ከሰለጠነ ወታደር ጋር ወደ ኢትዮጵያ አስገቡት፤ በ11529 ጀምሮ ኢትዮጵያን በይፋ ወረረ። በጦርና በጨበጣ ብቻ የመዋጋት ልምድ የነበራቸው ኢትዮጵያውያን፤ የጠመንጃ መሳሪያ የታጠቀውን መሃመድን በምንም መልኩ ሊቆጣጠሩት አልቻሉም። ብዙ የሰው ህይወትና የአገር ሃብት አወደመ። በወቅቱ የነበሩ ገዥዎች፤ እርሱን ለመቋቋም፤ ክርስቲያን ክፍል የሆኑትን ፓርችጋሎችን በመማጸን የመሳሪያና የሰው ሃይል እርዳታ አግኘተው፤ ተዋግተው አሸነፉ። ይህ ነው የጠመንጃ መሳሪያ ወደ ኢትዮጵያ አመጣጡ። ይሄን እውነታ ቀይሮ አማሮቹ መሳሪያ ቀድሞ ስላገኑ የሚለው አካሄድ፤ ምን አይነት የፓለቲካ ትርፍ ያመጣ ይሆን? በመሰረቱ፤ የግራኝ ጦርነትን ተከትሎ ሰሜኑን የወረረው ማን ነው። የኦሮሞዎች ወረራና በቀላሉ ሰፊውን የሃገሪቱ ክፍል የመያዝ ውጤቱ፤ በግራኝ አማካኝነት የተካሄደው ጭፍጨፋ ከፍተኛ የሆነውን የአማራ ሕዝብ ስለጨረሰ ነው። ለዚህ መከራከሪያ ምላሹን ከአቶ ጁዋር እፈልጋለሁ። የኦሮሞ ማህበረሰብ በወቅቱ የተፈጠረውን አጋጣሚ በመጠቀም፤ የሰሜኑን ክፍል ወርሮ ያሸነፈው ብቸኛው ምክንያት ይሄው ነው። የጦር መሳሪያ ወደ ኢትዮጵያ መግባት የጠቀመው፤ አቶ ጁዋር እንደጠቀሰው አማራውን ሳይሆን ኦሮሞውን ነው። ከቆላማው ወደ ደጋማውና ለም የሃገሪቱ ክፍል እንዲገቡ ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ አድርጎላቸዋል። ይሄን ጥሬ ሃቅ ክዶ፤ በወቅቱ የተሰራን ግፍ ወደ ሌላው መለከክ፤ ከአንድ የፓለቲካ ተንታኝ፣ ያውም ሌሎቹን እያሰለጠነ ካለ በፍጹም አይጠበቅም።
በወንድሜ፤ በአቶ ጁዋር አካሄድ ቢተነተን፤ እስላምና በኢትዮጵያ ምድር ለመስፋፋት አስተዋጽኦ ያደረገው፤ የጠመንጃ መሳሪያ የሙስሊሞቹ መሪ የነበረ በመጀመሪያ በእጁ በቱርክ በኩል ከልዩ ስልጠና ጋር ስለገባ፤ ብዙውን ሰው አሰለመ ወደሚለው ያደርሰናል። እናም፤ ሙስሎሞች ጥፋት ስላጠፉ…..የሚል ጭልጥ ያለ ውንብድና ውስጥ ይከተናል። እኔ ግን ይሄን አልቀበለውም። ምንም ይሁን ምን፤ ደካማ ጎናችንን በመጠቀም፤ የውጭ ሃይሎች የጫኑብን መከራ ነበር ብዬ ነው የማልፈው። ለዛሬ ችግራችንም መጥቀስን አልፈልግም። ምክንያቱም፤ በእነሱ ተንኮል ስር እንደገባሁ ስለምቆጠርው። እናም ጁዋር፤ የኦሮሞ ችግር በውኑ በአማራው የደረሰብት መከራ ነበርን ለማት ታሪኩን፤ መሳሪያ ከመግባቱ በፊት የነበረውን ሁኔታ በጥልቅ እንዲያነቡና ለሁላችን የሚያስማማ፤ እያንዳንዱ ዜጋ የተከበረባት ኢትዮጵያን ለማዬት እጅግ ወሳኝ ነው እላለሁ።

Your response is no different than what the successive governments have tried to inculcate in our mind set. It is a tired way of approaching the issue. One thing that we would like to tell our adversaries (other classifications follow if you are not careful enough) is that history is always written by the victors. You may be reading your history from the chronicles of the victors which may sound right top you. Juwar is presenting history as relayed down through generations from the victimized point of view. That being the case, we may never agree on the actual account of those events. The issue is what is at store in the future that would satisfy all of us equally with out taking advantage of the legacy of the past. That is where the focus should be. I do not believe that any Oromo will take your side of the history in present day and age. That number of believers is not easy to mess around with any more. In a democratic society you and I have no reason to argue about our positions. Hell, the Oromo people’s willingness to accept the Amhara narratives has long been squashed and if you are aiming to regain that lost narrative we would not like to spend our effort. It is dead. I don’t have to repat it. On the death of that narrative rises Oromo people’s self determination. We are not asking for your approval here.

Discussion is good. But sometimes intentions matter. If we talk about past history we can always find two versions of the same story. If we are really talking about our past as history we need to lay facts as they are. For example, americans talk about their past and infact teach them to their kids once it is over. Like what the whites did to blacks. Sometimes it is controversial. But as a fact truth is the most pleasing thing to do. So, Whatever Amara did should not be viewed as something the present generation should pay. That is our mistake. If amras think now the same way then we have a reason to fear. Our past is past, but history repeats itself and for that reason we should guard ourselves.
Coming to the main point, I do not know why the critique wants to capitalize on Amhara as “neftena” issue too much. But for whatever motive, we need to know the truth. As we know Oromos were nowhere in Ethiopian history to be seen until after Imam Ahmed Gragn war on the Northern Ethiopia. Yes he was armed but it is hard to conclude that the Amharas were bare armed. I see that Turks had at the time the upper hand in the region until Portugese came in. We know that a number of Europeans had some kind of communication in the North. Tigres and Amharas. Even if this was not true, the Oromos had no means to arm themselves to control Amhara. Now this will take us to the time of Yohannes. Was Yohannes armed and Oromos un armed? Was MenelikII armed and Oromos unarmed? In most likelihood the answer is affirmative yes.
My friends beware you do not fall into the machinations of our common enemies. The truth about the story is the holocaust committed by Gragn Mohammed on Ethiopia and its heritage is boundless. The purpose of such a debate shall not be to stabilish a ‘true account’ of past history. We have to know that everbody have his own piecs of evidence, the problem is in analysing the pieces. It is crude fact that EPRDF have divided the country in ethnic groups, this is a crude fact on which everyone agrees but after 50 years historyans will inerprete wheather it was good or bad differently. Read Dr Fikre Tolossa’s article about the oromo and their role in the evolution of the Ethiopian state. Jawar you are a youngish fellow and could learn a lot from historians like Fikre Tolossa. Educate your self on Ethiopian history by reading the books of historians, most of which were written years before you were born.

Juhar first of all do you know that temenja is a Turkish word Who got it first The Oromos from Ogaden . You may be well versed in Albert Anstien’s non violence struggle but that alone does not make you an authority on East African History in general and Ethiopian History in particular. I personally like you, the efforts you make are commendable but do not be over zealous and make mistake. A person of your caliber need to talk at a continent level not ethnic level. I read all comments given by all people. I see three different peoples. The most idea that I want to comment is that of Sayint. There is a saying in my region. A servant who lost her hearing capability always sing a song that she knows during her childhood. The only thing you can speak is insulting. Since Oromia was fully occupied in 1891 by the Menelik II with the help of weapons he had received from European powers like Britain and France, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing and economic & political segregations have at its best level been committed against the Oromo people by the successive Abyssinian regimes. But the world has turned a blind eye to these inhumane treatments. One cannot be considered wrong if he/she dares to compare this segregation policy of ethnic discrimination to Apartheid.
In the past, the Amharas had dominated every economic sector and political arenas of the Ethiopian empire, and relegated the oppressed peoples of all the Southern nations to abject poverty, illiteracy and incompetency. Today, the Tigrean minority are repeating the same trend of ripping the Oromos off their natural resources by selling fertile lands to foreign investors who forcefully evict farmers. This has to be confronted by the international communities as evicting farmers from their land is tantamount to ending peoples’ life. Ironically, the money collected from the land grab is used by the TPLF government to buttress its political hegemony to further oppress the indigenous majority (the Oromos).
