በዘመናዊት ኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ከሰሜን እስከ ደቡብ፣ ከምሥራቅ እስከ ምዕራብ ታላቅ የሕዝብ ቅልቅል ተካሂዷል። ከእነዚህ ምክንያቶች መካከል፦ የአህመድ ግራኝ ወረራ፣ የኦሮሞ ወረራ፣ በዘመነ መሣፍንት የነበሩት የእርስ በእርስ ጦርነቶች፣ ፈፃሜ-ዘመነ መሣፍንትን ያበሠሩት የማዕከላዊ መንግሥትን እንደገና የማዋቀር ጦርነቶች እንዲሁም ሁለቱ የኢጣሊያ ወረራዎች የሚጠቀሱ ናቸው። እነዚያ ጦርነቶች እና የእርስ በእርስ ግጭቶች ከፍተኛ ቁጥር ያለውን የሕዝብ ክፍል ሕይዎት እንዳሣጡ አይካድም። ያንንም ተከትሎ ከኑሮ አስገዳጅነት እና በአገዛዝ ኃይሎች የበላይነት የያዘው አካል በሚፈጥረው የፖለቲካ አሠላለፍ መለዋወጥ ምክንያት የአንዱ ጎሣ ወይም ነገድ አባሎች በከፊልም ሆነ ሙሉ በሙሉ የመጥፋት ጉዳት ደርሶባቸዋል። በዚህ ረገድ ከኢትዮጵያ ዋና ዋና ነገዶች እና ጎሣዎች መካከል፦ በምዕራብ ኢትዮጵያ ነዋሪ የነበሩት የጋፋት ነገድ በኦሮሞ ወረራ ሙሉ በሙሉ እንዲጠፉ ሆነዋል ወይም ማንነታቸውን ተገድደው ለውጠው «ኦሮሞዎች» ወይም «ዐማራዎች» ወይም በሌላ ነገድ ስም ይጠራሉ፤ የሜያ ነገድ ተወላጆች ደግሞ በግራኝ አህመድ እና በኋላም ተከትሎ በመጣው በኦሮሞዎች ወረራ ምክንያት ቁጥራቸው በእጅጉ ተመናምኖ ዛሬ በዝዋይ ኃይቅ ውስጥ በሚገኙ ደሴቶች እና አካባቢው ብቻ ተወስነው ይገኛሉ። ጥንት በባሊ (ባሌ) እና ፈጠጋር (አርሲ) ተስፋፍተው ይኖሩ የነበሩት ሐዲያዎች እና ከንባታዎች በኦሮሞዎች ወረራ ተጨፍልቀው «ኦሮሞዎች» ሲባሉ ቀሪ ወገኖቻቸው በደቡብ ምዕራብ ሸዋ በአንድ ጠባብ አካባቢ በተጨናነቀ ሁኔታ እንዲኖሩ ተገድደዋል። ከዚህ በተጨማሪም፦ አርጎባዎች፣ ቀቤናዎች፣ ወርጂዎች፣ አላባዎች፣ ሲዳማዎች፣ ወዘተርፈ በኦሮሞዎች ወረራ ምክንያት ማንነታቸውን እንዲቀይሩ ተገድደዋል፤ ከዚያም አልፎ በጅምላ ተጨፍጭፈዋል። በእናርያ ንጉሥ ግዛት ሥር የነበሩት ጃንጀሮዎች (የም) በኦሮሞ ቆሮዎች (በእነ አባ ጅፋር) በገፍ በባርነት ተፈንግለዋል። የዳውሮ እና የገሙ ሰዎች ደግሞ ግዛታቸውን በኦሮሞ ወራሪዎች ተነጥቀዋል። በመሆኑም የዘመናዊት ኢትዮጵያን የሕዝብ አሠፋፈር ጥንቅር ለውጥ ለመገንዘብ ከአህመድ ግራኝ ወረራ ጀምሮ ማዬቱ ለበለጠ ግንዛቤ ይረዳል።
ግራኝ አህመድ በኢትዮጵያ ላይ ወረራውን የጀመረው የንጉሡ የአፄ ልብነድንግል ሹም እና የደዋሮ (ምዕራብ ሐረርጌ) ገዢ ከነበረው ከአዛዥ ፋኑኤል ጋር በ፲፭፻፲፯ ዓ.ም. ባደረገው ውጊያ ነበር። ግራኝ አህመድ ዘንተራ (ደንቢያ፣ ሰሜን ጎንደር፣ ጣና ሐይቅ አጠገብ) በአፄ ገላውዲዎስ ሥር ሲዋጉ በነበሩት የፖርቱጋል ወታደሮች የጥይት አረር ተመትቶ በየካቲት ፳፯ ቀን ፲፭፻፴፭ ዓ.ም. እስኪገደል ድረስ ኢትዮጵያን ለ፲፱ ዓመታት ያህል በጦርነት አመሠቃቅሏታል፤ ዜጎቿን ኍልቆ-መሣፍርት ለሌለው ግፍ እና በደል ዳርጓቸዋል። የእርሱን የወረራ ፍፃሜ እግር በእግር ተከትለው የመጡት የኦሮሞ ወራሪዎች ደግሞ ከ፲፭፻፵ዎቹ ጀምረው ከደቡብ ከነጌሌ ቦረና አካባቢ ተነስተው ከፊታቸው የነበረውን የሌላውን ነገድ እና ጎሣ ሕዝብ ዕድሜ እና ፆታ ሣይለዩ በጅምላ እየፈጁ እስከ ትግራይ ድረስ ዘልቀዋል። ኦሮሞዎች አብዛኛውን የኢትዮጵያ ክፍል በተከታታይ ወረራዎች ለመያዝ የፈጀባቸው ጊዜ ከ፫፻ ዓመታት ይበልጣል። ስለዚህ ዛሬ ያለውን የኢትዮጵያን የሕዝብ አሠፋፈር በቅጡ ለመረዳት ያለፈውን የ፩፻፳ ያመታት ብቻ ታሪክ ሣይሆን አህመድ ግራኝ ኢትዮጵያን ከወረረበት ከ፲፭፻፲፯ ዓ.ም. ጀምሮ የነበረውን ሁኔታ መመርመር የግድ ያስፈልጋል። ሆኖም ባለፉት ፵ እና ፶ ዓመታት በኢትዮጵያ የፖለቲካ እንቅስቃሴ «መሪዎች ነን» ብለው የተነሱ ልሂቃን የኢትዮጵያን የረዥም ዘመን የታሪክ ጉዞ በ፻ ዓመታት ብቻ በመገደብ በጉንጭ አልፋ ውዝግብ ሕዝብን ሲያተራምሱ ይታያሉ። በተለይም ለዚህ ውዝግብ ቀዳሚዎቹ የትግሬ እና የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን ሲሆኑ እንደ ዋለልኝ መኮንን ዓይነቶቹ ጥራዝ ነጠቅ የዐማራ ልሂቃንም በዚህ ክበብ ውስጥ ይገኙበታል።
ታሪካቸውን በቅጡ ያልተረዱ ጥቂት፣ አክራሪ እና ዘረኛ የሆኑ የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን፣ ከጀርመናውያን የኃይማኖት ሠባኪዎቻቸው የተጋቱትን ለኢትዮጵያዊነት እና ለዐማራ ያላቸውን ጥላቻ እንደበቀቀን ደግመው፣ ደጋግመው ሲጮኹ ይሰማሉ። ለመሆኑ የዚህ አስተሣሰብ ምንጩ ከዬት ነው? በዘመነ ቅኝ አገዛዝ የአፍሪካ ቅርምት ወቅት፣ እንግሊዞች፥ «ግብፅን መቆጣጠር ማለት ቀይ ባሕርን መቆጣጠር ማለት ነው፤ ቀይ ባሕርን መቆጣጠር ማለት ደግሞ መላውን የመካከለኛውን ምሥራቅ መቆጣጠር ነው፤» ብለው በማመን ግብፅን «የገንዘብ ብድር ዕዳን» ሠበብ በማድረግ ከቱርኮች ነጥቀው ቅኝ ግዛታቸው አደረጓት። እንደዚያም ሁሉ፣ የሮማ ካቶሊክ ቤተክርስቲያን ሠባኪዎች «ቻይናን ስጡን እና እስያ የእኛ ትሆናለች» ብለው ሰላዮቻቸውን በኃይማኖት ሠባኪነት ሽፋን በቻይና አሠማሩ፥ ቻይናም ቀስ በቀስ በምዕራባውያን ተፅዕኖ ሥር ወደቀች። የኦነግ እና የኦሕዴድ የንስሃ አባታቸው የሆነው ጀርመናዊው ሰላይ ዩሓን ክራፍ በበኩሉ «ጋሎችን ስጡን እና መላው የመካከለኛው የአፍሪቃ ክፍል የኛ [የጀርመኖች] ይሆናል፤» በማለት ጀርመን የኦሮሞን ነገድ ተጠቅሞ ምሥራቅን እና መካከለኛውን የአፍሪቃ ክፍል በቅኝ ግዛቱ ሥር የሚያውልበትን መንገድ መጥረጉን እናያለን። ስለሆነም «የነፃ ኦሮሚያ» ዓላማ አራማጆችም «ኦሮሚያ» ከሚባለው አዲስ ወያኔ-ሠራሽ ግዛት ጀምሮ የሚያራግቡት ተግባር ሁሉ፣ በ፲፱ኛው መቶ ክፍለ-ዘመን ሠፊውን የኢትዮጵያ አካል ቆርሶ ለጀርመን የቅኝ ግዛት ለማድረግ የታቀደው ሤራ በዚህ በእኛ ዘመን ታድሶ መቅረቡን መገንዘብ ያስፈልጋል።
ከዚህ በተጨማሪ ዩሓን ክራፍ፣ ጀርመን በአውሮፓ ፖለቲካ እና ኢኮኖሚ የበላይነቱን እንድትይዝ ያለውን ፍላጎት እንደሚከተለው ገልጿል፥ «“ጋሎችን” መያዝ መካከለኛው አፍሪቃን ለመቆጣጠር ከማስቻሉም ሌላ፣ በቀይ ባሕር ዳርቻ የሚገኙትን አገሮችን መያዝ ከንግድ መቆጣጠሪያነት ባሻገር፣ ጀርመን በአውሮጳ ያላትን የበላይነት ማረጋገጥ እና የጀርመንን ሥልጣኔ በዐረቦች ምድር፣ በአበሻ እና በመላው ምሥራቅ አፍሪቃ ማስፋፋት ነው። የጀርመን በምሥራቅ አፍሪቃ መስፋፋት፣ የእስልምና ኃይማኖት በዐረብ ምድር እና በአፍሪቃ ጠረፎች የሚያደርገውን መስፋፋት የሚያዳክም፣ የዐረቦችን የባሪያ ንግድ የሚቀንስ፣ እንዲሁም የምሥራቅ አፍሪቃን ሕዝብ አረመኔነት በክርስትና ሥልጣኔ መዋጋት ነው። ከአበሻ በስተደቡብ ያሉት “ጋሎች” የሠፈሩበት ቦታ ለአውሮጳውያን ሠፋሪዎች ምቹ ቦታ ነው፤» በማለት ጀርመን የኦሮሞዎችን ልብ ከኢትዮጵያዊነት ስሜት በማውጣት ምሥራቅን እና መካከለኛውን አፍሪቃ እንዴት በቁጥጥሩ ሥር ማዋል እንደሚችል «ወንጌላዊው» ክራፍ ምክሩን ለግሷል፤ ምክሩም የመከነ አይመስልም፤ ኦነግን እና መሰል ድርጅቶችን አፍርቷል። ለአብነትም ያህል ለኦነግ መመሥረት እና መጎልበት የስካንዴኔቪያን አገሮች፣ ጀርመኖች እና ሌሎችም የቅኝ ገዢነት ቅዠታቸው ያልለቀቃቸው አውሮጳውያን የሚያደርጉትን ሁሉን-አቀፍ ድጋፍ ልብ ይሏል!
በማስከተልም ዩሓን ክራፍ፣ ከሸዋ በስተደቡብ የሚኖሩት “ጋሎች” ብዛት ያላቸው መሆኑን ገልጦ፣ የእስላሞችን የመሥፋፋት ወረራ ሊመክቱ እንደሚችሉ እና የአፍሪቃ ጀርመኖች ሊሆኑ እንደሚችሉ ዕምነቱን አስረድቷል። ዩሓን ክራፍ ምሥራቅ እና መካከለኛው አፍሪቃ በጀርመን ቁጥጥር ሥር እንዲውል የነደፈው አንዱ ሥልት፣ ሚሽነሪዎችን በወንጌል ማስፋፋት ስም በአካባቢው በማሠማራት፣ የየአገሮቹ ልዩ ልዩ ነገዶች እና ጎሣዎችን ሊለያዩበት እና ሊናቆሩበት የሚችሉበትን ዘዴ ማጥናት፣ እንዲሁም ያገኟቸውን የማናቆሪያ ቀዳዳዎች ማስፋት ነበር። ለዚህም ዩሓን ክራፍ ያቀረበው ኃሣብ፦ «በደቡብ እና በምዕራብ ኢትዮጵያ የሚኖሩ የኦሮሞ ተወላጆችን ከሌሎች ኢትዮጵያውያን ነገዶች በመለዬት፣ በተቃራኒው ተበታትነው ይኖሩ የነበሩትን የኦሮሞ ጎሣዎች አንድ የሚያደርግ አዲስ መጠሪያ ስም በመስጠት፣ በዚህ አዲስ ስም የሚታወቅ የአካባቢ ስም ፈጥሮ፣ ያን አካባቢ ከቀረው የኢትዮጵያ የሚገነጥል ብሔርተኛ ቡድን በጀርመን ሁለንተናዊ ርዳታ ማጠናከር፤» የሚለው ነበር። ለዚህም «“ጋላ” የሚለው ስም ሁሉንም የነገዱን አባሎች አጠቃሎ ለመጥራት አያስችልም» የሚል ምክንያት በመስጠት፣ «ኦርማኒያ» ከሚለው ስም «ኦሮሚያ» የሚል ቃል በማውጣት ጥንት “ጋላ” በመባል የሚታወቀው ነገድ በዚህ እርሱ ባወጣው አዲስ ስም እንዲጠራ እና «ኦሮሚያ» ለሚባል ክልል ነፃ መውጣት እንዲታገል በወንጌል ማስፋፋት ስም አስተማረ፣ ሰበከ። በዚህ መሠረት ዩሓን ክራፍ ራሱ «ኦሮሚያ» ብሎ የሰየመውን የኢትዮጵያ አካል መቆጣጠር ማለት፣ ምሥራቅን እና መካከለኛውን አፍሪቃ መቆጣጠር እንደሆነ በማመን የጀርመን ተስፋፊዎች ዓይናቸውን ኢትዮጵያን በማፍረስ ላይ እንዲያነጣጥሩ ምክር ለገሠ።
የዩሓን ክራፍ እና የመሠሎቹ ምክር በጀርመን ቅኝ ገዢዎች ልብ ውስጥ መስረፁ ማስረጃው ጀርመን በአፍሪቃ አኅጉር ላይ ትከተል በነበረው የቅኝ ግዛት ፖሊሲ ላይ ጉልህ አሻራ አኑሯል። በዚህ ረገድ እስከ ፩ኛው የዓለም ጦርነት ድረስ ጀርመኖች ከምሥራቅ አፍሪቃ፥ ታንዛኒያን፣ ሩዋንዳን እና ብሩንዲን፤ ከምዕራብ አፍሪቃ ቶጎን፣ ከፊል ጋናን እና ካሜሩንን፤ ከደቡባዊ አፍሪቃ ደግሞ ናሚቢያን በቅኝ ግዛትነት በያዙበት ወቅት ከእንግሊዞች፣ ፈረንሣዮች እና ጣሊያኖች በከፋ ሁኔታ ያካሄዱት የከፋፍለህ-ግዛው የቅኝ አገዛዝ አካሄድ አይረሣም። ከሁሉም መዘንጋት የሌለበት አብይ ነጥብ፥ በ፲፱፻፹፮ ዓም በሩዋንዳ በሁቱዎች እና በቱትሲዎች መካከል የደረሠው የዘር ዕልቂት እና በብሩንዲም በየጊዜው በዘር ልዩነት ምክንያት የሚደረገው መተላለቅ ሠንኮፉ በጀርመን ቅኝ ገዢዎች የተተከለ እና በኋላም ጀርመኖቹን በተኩት ቤልጂጎች ዳብሮ በዘመናችን ደግሞ በፈረንሣዮች የተተበተበ የተንኮል ድር ድምር ውጤት መሆኑን ነው። በእኛም አገር በኢትዮጵያ፣ ላለፉት በርካታ ዓመታት በዩሓን ክራፍ መሠሎቹ አመለካከት ተኮትኩተው ያደጉ የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን የሚያቀነቅኑት አስተሣሰብ አለ። ይኼውም፥ የያዙትን የኢትዮጵያዊነት ማንነት ለማስጠበቅ ሣይሆን ለማጣት በሚያስገድድ መልክ በራሣቸው ላይ ዘመቻ ከፍተው፣ ለሌሎች ኢትዮጵያውያን ቀርቶ ለራሳቸው ሊሰሙት የማይፈቅዱትን ጩኸት ሲያሰሙ ይደመጣሉ።
ለመሆኑ ጥቂት የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን ነገዳቸውን “ጋላ”፣ ቋንቋቸውን “ጋልኛ” የሚለውን ዐማሮች እንደሰጡዋቸው አድርገው የሚያቀርቡት ታሪካዊ መሠረት አለው? በመሠረቱ “ጋላ” እና “ጋልኛ” የሚሉትን ስሞች ዐማራው አላወጣቸውም። እንዲያውም የኦሮሞን ታሪክ በስፋት እና በጥልቀት ያጠኑ ሰዎች እንደሚያስገነዝቡት “ጋላ” ማለት እስላምም፣ ክርስቲያንም ያልሆነ ማለት እንደሆነ ያብራራሉ። የቃሉም ምንጭ ሶማሊኛ እንደሆነ ያስገነዝባሉ። በሌላ በኩል “ጋላ” ማለት ግመል ማለት ነው የሚሉም አሉ። ሌሎች ደግሞ “ጋላ” የሚለው ቃል «ገላ» ከሚለው የኦሮሚኛ ግሥ የወጣ መሆኑን እና ትርጉሙም «ወደ ቤታችን መሄድ ፈለግን፣ ወደ ቤታችን ሄድን ወይም ገባን» ማለት እንደሆነ ያስረዳሉ። ይህም ትርጉም ኦሮሞዎች በሶማሌና በባንቱ ጎሣዎች ተገፍተው፣ ከነበሩበት ከምሥራቅ አፍሪቃ የሕንድ ውቅያኖስ ዳርቻዎች ፈልሰው ወደ ደቡብምሥራቅ ኢትዮጵያ ግዛት፥ ወደ ባሌ፣ የተጠጉበትን ዘመን በማውሣት፣ በሰላም ተረጋግተው የሚኖሩበትን ሥፍራ ፈልገው ማግኘታቸውን የሚያመለክት ስያሜ እንደሆነ ብዙዎች በትርጉሙ ይማማሉ። ስለዚህ ጥቂት ዘረኛ የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን «“ጋላ” የሚለውን የስድብ ስያሜ የሰጠን ዐማራው ነው፤» የሚሉት የራሣቸው የማንነት ቀውስ ያስከተለባቸው ግራ መጋባት ከመሆን ውጭ ሌላ አሣማኝ ምክንያት የላቸውም። «ዐማራ ይህንን መጠሪያ ሰጠን» የሚሉትም ውንጀላ ፍፁም መሠረተ-ቢስ ሐሰት ነው። በአንፃሩ «ኦሮሞ» እና «ኦሮሚያ» ለሚሉት መጠሪያዎች የታወቀ ፈጣሪ አላቸው፦ እርሱም አፍቃሬ ቅኝ ገዢዎች የነበረው ጀርመናዊው ዩሓን ክራፍ ነው።
ዩሓን ክራፍ «ጋላ» የሚለውን ቃል ለመቀየር ያነሣሣውን ኃሣብ ሲያስተነትን፦ «ጋላ» የሚለውን ቃል ሲተረጉም «ስደተኛ» ማለት እንደሆነ እና ይህም መጠሪያ በዐረቦች እና በ«አበሾች» የተሰጠ እንደሆነ ይገልፃል። በአንጻሩ እርሱ የፈጠረው «ኦርማ» ወይም «ኦሮማ» ማለት ትርጉሙ «ጎበዝ» ማለት እንደሆነ ያምናል። በእርሱ አባባል «ጋሎች» ለራሣቸው እና ለሚኖሩበት አካባባቢ አጠቃላይ የወል መጠሪያ ስለሌላቸው «ኦርማኒያ» ተብለው እንዲጠሩ ኃሣብ አቅርቧል። ሆኖም ይህንን የዩሓን ክራፍን ኃሣብ የእርሱ-ቢጤ የሆኑ የዘመኑ ሚሽነሪዎች እና ተመራማሪዎች እንኳን አልተቀበሉትም። ለምሣሌም ያህል፦ ኢትዮጵያን ያጠኑ እንደ ዶክተር ቻርለስ ቴ ቢክ ያሉ የመልከዐምድር ተመራማሪዎች፣ ለኦሮሞዎች «ጋላ» የሚለውን ስም የሰጡዋቸው ዐረቦች እና «አበሾች» አለመሆናቸውን እና ስሙ ከራሣቸው ቋንቋ የተገኘ እንደሆነ ይሞግታሉ። ይሁን እንጂ፣ ዕውነቱን ትተው ውሸቱን፣ ሠፊውን ጠልተው ጠባቡን፣ የሚያኮራውን ንቀው የሚያቀልለውን፣ የሚያስከብረውን አውግዘው የሚያዋርደውን፣ የመረጡት ጥቂት «ተማርን ያሉ» የኦሮሞ ልሂቃን፣ የዩሓን ክራፍን ስብከት አምነው ተቀብለው፣ ዐማራን እና ኢትዮጵያን ከምድረ-ገፅ በማጥፋት፣ «ኦሮሚያ» የተባለ አዲስ አገር በመመሥረት እንቅስቃሴ ላይ ከተሠማሩ ከግማሽ ምዕተ-ዓመት በላይ አድርገዋል። ወራሪ የሆኑትን ኦሮሞዎችን እንደ ተወራሪ በመቁጠር፣ ወያኔም ዮሓን ክራፍ የሰጠውን የአካባቢ መጠሪያ በማፅደቅ፣ ዐማሮችን እና ሌሎችን ኢትዮጵያውያን ከአፅመ-ርስታቸው በማባረር፣ «ኦሮሚያ» የሚል አዲስ ግዛት ፈጥሮላቸዋል።

Moreh begins the work that gave the group instant notoriety (infamy) by saying: “We have understood the history of Ethiopia intellectually.” The group spends just a couple of pages rewriting Ethiopian history proving conclusively that such is not the case.
When one makes a major claim, such as saying that the Oromos have invaded Amharas land, then one should be able to provide historical facts, sources, statistics, archeological evidences etc., to be able to back up one’s claim. Because without such evidence, the claim has no merit.
It isn’t simply that Moreshs version of Ethiopian History turned out to be wrong in some of the particulars, but rather that they were so completely wrong that they will NEVER resolve the current regionalism mentality and the distractive seed that has been sawn by TPLF gangs. Moresh, however, unrepentantly continues to beat the drum of TPLF invented division as well as hostility between the two populace further in the name of protecting poor Amharas. How foolish, misguided and irresponsible Moresh is! My best advice or strategy? You better work on creating alliance and partnership between the Amharas and Oromos in order to eliminate minority TPLF instead of destabilizing them.
One more point, according to close observants and my Gondere friends, the demography of Gondar is changing alarmingly to Tigre right now. Am I right? Not Oromos but Tigres are invading and dislocating indigenous Gonderes from their ancestorial land and homes by one or another means. Oroms are not the one who are in the verge of transferring part of Gonder to Sudan. TPLF (Tigres) are on the one tirelessly working hard of transfer part of Gondar to Sudan. Is not this so sad? Moresh is revealing its true color from day to day. They should change their name to anti Oromo. If you observe clearly they write more about fabricated stories about Oromo than for the well being of amhara. I don’t really get what they aim to achieve. When people accuse minilik of doing atrocities, their defence is to immediately claim that the Oromos did the same thing(like breast cutting). It is correct to say we have to read all old and new documents and triangulate facts! I agree with you in that case. But are not believing the fact about the great massive migration of oromo people to its current place in the some 500 years ago? I know several young people who are very much astonished with the bad dids of minilik but never regrate about what happened during oromo migration. Sew call it werera (invasion) i rather call it were (migration) but remain to be corrected. As some call minilik’s movement expansion, and some call invasion—for me it is not these words which matter, but to accept the full history of our country. It is unfair to promote recent facts while denouncing the old. History is history. nothing less and nothing more! this teaches the younger generation how to look Ethiopian history beyond the 100 year tag.The oromo elites stuck with100 year history, because if they go beyond that history tells the fact that most central Ethiopia including present day addis abeba was inhabited by amharas and the likes.

in one hand they claim Minilik unified Ethiopia blah blah and the unity of of the country is not up for discussion (fair enough). in the other hand they claim they were victims of agression and they will defend what is theirs by removing the Oromos who they claim to originate from Madagascar.
I am puzzled with waht their real objective is. When you declare a war on others, dont expect the other party to wait for you with roses. You guys are adding to fuel to the existing tension instead of extinguishing it.
I am just venting and I know none of them will dare to answer my questions. I am a proud Oromo and have down to earth and good Amhara friends. We never had issues living together.
If our elites are not able to bring a solution to the problems they themselves have created (referring to elites from both sides), they would rather shut up and leave us alone. Dont use us as your scapegoats to quench your thirst of power and money.

Most of our problems in Ethiopia can be solved if we try to understand why some people with different views from ours about the country behave. Let us put ourselves in another persons shoes and try to understand what Ethiopia really means to each one of us and try to work a solution together. An amhara person doesn’t fully understand what it is like to be an Oromo in Ethiopia. If this amhara person is born an Oromo will he really be satisfied with the current version of his Ethiopiawinet? I highly doubt it. The same thing goes around and for other citizens of the country as well.
We as Ethiopians don’t have a culture of openness even within our family. We don’t really know one another and we are biased and rarely rely on facts. As citizens of the same country we must start to know each other and give value to one another. We are going no where as long as we focus on opposing each other and finding faults. When we think of Ethiopia we should think about all her citizens.
When a person from my group insults people from another group if I defend this person just because he belongs to my group, where is my love and respect for my country? My loyalty is really to my group even if I try to sugar code it in the name of Ethiopia.
Every body has different version of Ethiopia. If we want to create a common version of the country and national sentiment different groups should respect each other, sit down, debate, compromise and then create a common Ethiopia which is inclusive and be really loved and cherished by all its citizens. Opposing someones views all the time is very easy and bears no fruit. It has no use even for the group we belong to let alone for diverse Ethiopia
according to the article amhara was living everywhere. when I read these kind of texts i am now really suspecting that even the “aba bahrey” might be a fictional conspiracy. How would Oromo language be more than 75% or more similar to Sidama, Hadiya, Konso etc when the Oromo people are strangers to the area. Why wouldn’t amharic has no relation with the languages of the south if (as the writiter of this article) amhara has been living indeginously in all the mentioned areas.
