ኢትዮጵያዊቷ ቤቲና ፥ ቢግ ብራዘር አፍሪካ 2013 (Big Brother Africa 2013) በሚባለው የቴሌቪዥን ትርዒት ላይ ፥ ሴራሊዮናዊው ቦልት ያደረጉትን ‘ወሲብ’ ያዩ ሰዎች “ቤቲ አዋረደችን” ሲሉ ሰማሁ። ለመሆኑ ምናችን ነው የተዋረደው? ከየት ወዴት ነው የወረድነው? ክብር እና ውርደት አንጻራዊ ቢሆኑም ፡ መጠን ግን አላቸው። ቤቲ ኢትዮጵያውያንን ከዬት ወዴት እንዳዋረደችን አልገባኝም። ለመሆኑ ኢትዮጵያውያን ክብር አለንን?

በምግብ ራሳችንን ያልቻልን ህብረተሰብ ከመሆናችን የተነሳ በእርዳታ ድጎማ የምንኖር ህዝብ መሆናችንን አንርሳ። ከዛ አልፎ መንግስታቸን በአመት 2 ቢሊዮን ዶላር እርዳታ ያገኛል። ያለዚያ ድጎማ የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት በአጭር ጊዜ ተንኮታኩቶ ሚወድቅ ነው።
ከስደተኛም ስደተኞች ፡ ከድሃም ድሆነች ፡ ከኋላቀርም ኋላቀሮች መሆናችንን ረስተን ‘ቤቲ አዋረደችን’ ማለቱ የአስተሳሰብን አለመደባር የሚያመላክት ሆኖ አግኝቼዋለሁ። ኢትዮጵያውያን ኋላቀርነታችን በአስተሳሰባችን ከሚንጸባረቅባቸው መንገዶች አንዱ ስለራሳችን ባለን የተሳሳተ ፡ በሃሰት ላይ በተመረኮዘ ራስን ማግዘፍ ነው። ይህ ራስን ማግዘፍ ለህብረተሰባችን መሰረታዊ ችግር ነው ብዬ አምናለሁ።

አንድ ህብረተሰብ ክቡር ሳይሆን ክቡር ነኝ ብሎ ካመነ ለብዙ ችግሮቹ መፍትሄ የማግኘት አቅሙ የጠበበ ይሆናል። ለምሳሌ፦ አንድ በጠና የታመመ ሰው ፡ ሃኪም ጋር ሄዶ ሃኪሙ “በጠና ታመሃል ፡ ይሄን መድሃኒት ውሰድ” ብሎ የመከረውን ምክር “እኔ ጤነኛ ነኝ” በማለት ችላ ቢል ፡ በሽተኛ መደየሙ አይቀሬ ነው።
ኢትዮጵያውያን ያልሆነውን ነን ከምንልባችው ምክንያቶች አንዱ ካለንበት የተዋረደ አገራዊ ፡ ማህበራዊ ፡ ኢኮኖሚያዊ እና አጠቃላይ መንፈሳዊ አዘቅጥ የተነሳ ከሚሰማን ጥልቅ ስለልቦናዊ ውርደት የተነሳ ይመለስለኛል። ሰዎች በክህደት አስተሳሰብ የሚዘፈቁት ያሉበትን ሁኔታ መቀበሉ እጅግ በጣም ቅስማቸውን ስለሚሰብር ነው።
የግለሰብ ነጻነት
የቤቲና ቦልትና ጉዳይ የህብረተሰባችንን የመንጋ አስተሳሰብም በግልጽ ያሳያል። ኢትዮጵያውያን ለግለሰብ ነጻነት የምንሰጠው ቦታ በጣም ትንሽ ነው። ሰዎች ግላዊ እንዲሆኑ ሳይሆን መንጋዊ እንዲሆኑ ከፍተኛ ጫና ይደረግባቸዋል። በአገራችን “ብቻውን የበላ ፡ ብቻውን ይሞታል” የሚሉት የድህነት ፍልስፍናዎች አሁንም በሰፊ አሉ።
ቤቲ የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ ንብረት አይደለችም። ቤቲ አንድ ግለሰብ ናት። የፈለገችውን የማድረግ አቅምና መብት ያላት ጎልማሳ ሰው ናት። ቤቲ ኢትዮጵያዊ ናት ማለት የኢትዮጵያ ንብረት ናት ማለት አይደለም። ግን ይሄ ጉዳይ የፆተኝነትም ጉዳይ ጭምር ይመስለኛል። ቤቲ ሴት በመሆኗ ነው ይሄ ሁሉ ትቺት የደረሰባት። በአገራችን ሴቶችን እንደ ንብረት የማየቱ ዝንባሌ አሁንም የተንሰራፋ እምነት ነውና።
ጉዳዩ ግን በአንድ ኢትዮጵያዊ ወንድና በአንዲት አፍሪካዊት ሴት መካከል ቢሆን ኖሮ ፡ የ“ቤቲ አዋረደችን” አይነት ትችት በብዛት አንሰማም።

Let me add some thing from different perspective, I am not sure whether those of many Ethiopian girls with the name of “Betty” would like to called the same way again or would parents proudly call their loved ones with this name again? I doubt. Because this is not some thing to be labeled as minor event that goes away with time, you think. But it won’t. In this information age, internet and youtube cross the line of privacy. A very controversial subject. I think she should have informed herself in advance, what it means to be on BB. I also think it is a very big burden to represent a country.
