1. I see some progresses. Some elites including the geography professor Mesifn woldemarim were saying there is no Amhara identity. Now there is a big shift from that. The good thing is that the Amhara elites especially the diaspora elites now realized that Amhara is one of the nation and nationalities of Ethiopia. What a big achievement!!This is really a good lesson for them .In addition they will understand how painful is when one’s identity is attacked. It would help them to sense the feelings of the other people!! Did you recognize how painful it is when one’s identity is attacked. These Amhara elites expressly (not under the cover of Ethiopianism as they were doing before for so many years) now started raising their voices fighting against injustices done on their ethnic group ,Amhara people, and called all Amhara including those working for the government to join this struggle for the right of Amhara people to be respected. This is their right .It is not racism or tribalism as they were labelling others people when standing for the respect of their identity right. They can demand the right of Amhara people to be protected and their identity right to be respected. This right of the people is recognized in international human right instruments and Ethiopian constitution. They can organize themselves on the basis of their nation’s identity and express anger through different peaceful mechanisms.
   Having said that they have the right to call for demonstration, that doesn’t mean that I agree with the substance of their specific request .As I understood, the opinion of the vice president of Amhara region, was Amhara people are not superior to any nations and nationalities. He stressed on equality of the Ethiopian nations and nationalities and recommended that the Amhara when living with other nations and nationalities that they should live in peace, harmony, love and respecting the identity and culture of other nations and nationalities. He also said there are some bad attitudes and chauvinistic tendencies among some Amhara people undermining other nations and nationalities. He stressed these people being they themselves very poor and leading extremely destitute life undermines other hard working people leading better standard of life. Is he not speaking the fact? by the way I am not undermining the Amhara people .I am personally attached to the Amhara people in one way or another .I have a great respect for the Amhara people, however, we can’t deny some facts and realities. A beggar from Amhara ethnic groups, when begging, usually says “ yemekowanint lej dej komal” meaning “ a stranger and a guy from noble class is waiting outside”. Do we deny this fact? do we really deny the existence of these back ward tendencies and attitudes among some Amhara people as expressed by the vice president of Amhara regional state. Denying these facts by itself constitutes as accepting these chauvinistic backward tendencies of the Amhara superiority as a governing principle. The vice president of the Amhara regional state was right!!Guys take your time, cool down and think big!!Please please please be civilized and understand the century you are living in!!

   • I concur with Mekdes. Majority of the Amharas must learn a big lesson. It is indeed true, when they are not, they think they are better. The most backward people are the Amharas- i mean in terms of the way they think, infrastructure, and way of living. Yet, it is the posion they kept speaking out against others and their identitiy, which have devastated the whole nation-A beautiful and most respsected. The question is-Why are most of them failing to learn this? I have been living with them (My father side is also from this side), and truly, as honest person, They have been using an extremely poision words to undermine others. But what to benefit. As we know, This has become a curse to Amhara and our people. I do not mean all are like this, but majority have attitudes. The whole world know about this.
     The truth of the matter is, They must learn to respect others. Ethiopia is not only Amhara but also oromos, Tigres, Gurages, Annuak, Afar, Somali etc. I am very frank to say, most Amharas (indeed, I do not believe being this ethnic group- I believe in Humanity first) have destroyed the country. Now they complain about the attack. Indeed, what the AMhara region vice president wanted to expose is what is true. It is not an attack. Haven’t amhara abused and spoken posions against Oromo for generations? Tigre for generations to the point that they have undermined their being humans? I would like to thanks all ethnic groups, who have been subjet to such inhumanity, becasue they are tolerant and of good character.

     All what I conclude is- Amharas should wake up before things turn to be devastating to them. Words can give life or kill. Pride kills.

   What about members of other ethnic? Do you think all of them perfect? Why do you want to speak about Amhara? This will show how you personally negetive to Amhara people . The fact is there are more people who are much worst than those whom you mentioned .

4. @ Mekdes you are terribly wrong, sorry. But, you were right to say some Amhara individuals are chauvenists, however, you sadly support the generalized insult of Alemnew Mekonnen by saying “he is right”. Amharas are lovely & kind people just like other ethiopians my friend.

     What is inferiority complex? I doubt you know about it. you simply said since you heard when some others are using it ! You also said Amhars beggar’s claim of yemekanint lej is perfect and shouldn’t blamed for that.That is terrible!!!
     you said there is noting wrong, if a beggar walking with injured bare foot and wearing animal skin, saying yemekanint lej dej komal while begging .Of course for you there is noting wrong with this!! I don’t have words to say any thing on this.I simply leave for the people of Ethiopia and for all human races to judge on this.

   About the beggar I understand ” ye me Kuan into lij” in the way he is saying that he used to live luxury life and to make someone sympathetic to him.but ur mind is full of hate u can’t even understand.
