  7. I don’t see any big difference here. (1.5……2 million). One can forget the exact number/figure especially when he/she has read the book long period of time ago. The fact is that at that time, the Abyssinians massacred more than 90% of the population living in that area.

    At the end, the “author” of the ‘fact finder’ concurs with Dr. Gemechu.

    Though, I never heared Jawar argue based on these statistics. In fact the text you provided proves some abuse indeed :)

    Note that Minilik used to have many russian advisors and modern weaponary from there.

  11. Ethiopia is not different from nations came before or after her. In a nation building, lots of mistakes can be made. Call it, Roman, Constantine, Benzantian, Egypt, Othman, Japan, England, lately USA .. , many atrocities took place. The question in 21st century is leaning from past mistakes and moving forward. That is what is expected of an educated human being. In the contrary, what we get from our ethnic based educated leaders is digging back and coming with fictions. If we have to keep digging back Oromos also don’t have clean hands. In addition, no Oromo was mentioned in the book he quoted, does Dr. Gemechu know that most of the slave trade of that area was conducted by Oromos?

  13. I think the information we got from Dr. Gemechu was indeed right. He figured out that there was a genocide by Menelik in Southern part of the ‘country’. The narrator of this clip is worried about the number.

    Per Dr. Gemechu:
    If 20,000 remained from 2 million, then 99% vanished by Menilik’s army. ONLY 1% SURVIVED

    Per this author:
    If 20,000 remained from 1.5 million, then 98.7% were assasinated by Menelik’s army. ONLY 1.3% SURVIVED.

    The end Result: MENELIK IS EQUITABLE WITH HITLER, if not more. He and his followers are responsible for the GENOCIDE.
